I’ve always tried to like Dick Vitale, if for no other reason than everyone says how annoying he is, but he just makes it difficult sometimes.
He’s just too uncritical. Now generally I don’t think that a positive outlook is in any way harmful, but in his case I think it necessarily limits his credibility. Some examples of the bullets in this article:
- You have to give Kansas a lot of credit for success…
- Congrats to Rick Barnes. For the first time…
- Great to see former Kentucky basketball player…
- Nice to see University of Arkansas men’s basketball coach…
…and so on. Even when he’s discussing something negative, like the dismissal of a player, or Indiana basketball in general, he’s just too nice.
Dear Dick, say what you think instead of trying so hard not to offend. You’ll come off a lot more sincere. Sincerely, Stu Jones
